Festival of Colors

The Festival of Colors! Wow what an experience! This is an Indian tradition to bring in spring. There is a beautiful indian temple in Spanish Fork and every year they celebrate this tradition. The colors are basically cornstarch dyed different colors. There is a concert and a ton of people as you can see. You throw your colors at each other and into the air. It was really fun. The only scary part was when after a count down when everyone threw their colors up and I couldn't breath! I couldn't hear anything and I got kind of disoriented. Really weird, but the rest was fun. It was really fun to be totally colored and I am glad I went. Surprisingly everything came off pretty easily so not too much of a hassle although I still have a pink armpit that will just not get clean!

Before...

I couldn't believe how many people were there. They said there were 20,000 last year. The crowd was incredible.

You can see the haze, this was a couple minutes after the big throw.

Dinner

I had a great dinner tonight at Panda Express. I sat at the raised bar like table by myself, on a Friday night, staring out the window at the snow falling horizontally. I got this fortune. I laughed out loud and then continued to smile until I left the restaurant. Heavenly Father has definitely blessed me with a sense of humor!

Treats

Sunday night I decided I wanted cookies. So I made some. This however presents a problem because there are over 40 cookies and only one of me so what do I do? Give them away. I was so lucky when I went home to have my mom load me down with cute stuff to wrap up treats. I love to bake and I like to give some treats away so these are essential supplies. I took these cookies to my two visiting teachies , my visiting teacher companion and my FHE sisters. Fun for me and hopefully fun for them!

Cute Outfit!

Here's a couple of cute things I bought on my shopping trip with mom.

A lady at Nordstroms taught us how to tie scarves cute! Here's an example.

The Game

One of the main reasons I came home was because Cam had his CCS(Central California Section) Championship. His team has been amazing through the season The team is mostly sophomores and they still managed to make it to the championships! They played a great game and lost by 2 points in the end. Heartbreak! They went on a palyed two rounds of Nor-Cals! Go Pinewood!

Cam heading off to the game! (Classic Cam pose)

There was a huge section of pinewood students there all decked out in yellow and green.

Receiving their second place trophy.

Shopping with Mom

I got to go home a couple weekends ago. On Friday my Mom and I spent the day shopping! Normally this would not be a good thing for either of us, because we don't like to shop, but we had a really good time. My mom found a ton of cute things! Usually I do really well when we shop, but she lucked out this time. I wish I had some pics of some of the stuff she bought. My favorite purchase were a pair of read high heels she bought. She is going to look great!

Snow

So I have a funny story for you. Everyday to school I wear my big black down coat with the the fir lining around the hood. It has started to get ridiculous because we have had days in the 50's and 60's these past couple months. So I decided that on the 4th the day looked nice enough, I was just going to wear my turtle neck, jeans and uggs I went to my first class...all good. I came out of my second class and it was sprinkling a little bit...I can handle this. After my third class I look out the window (I had been in the basement the whole hour) and what do you know...a white out. Worst snow I have seen this winter. Well I had to get to the airport within the next couple hours so I didn't have the option to wait it out. So off I trudged. It was a wet snow so by the time I got home my turtleneck, jeans uggs and socks were soaked. My hair which I had bothered to straighten that morning had gone all to curls and frizzy. Just my luck. Well that taught me a lesson...ALWAYS bring your coat!

PS there was no snow on the ground at all before this storm hit.

Chancho

For Family Home Evening tonight we played a game called Chancho. It is like the game spoons. Everybody gets four cards and one person starts with the deck. You look at each card and pass it if you don't want it. When someone gets four of a kind they put their hand down in the middle and yell chancho. Whoever is last to put their hand down loses. The person who got four of a kind than puts a letter on their face spelling chancho. They can write it however they want, big or little and anywhere on the face they want. I had an O on my chin, a C around my eye and an A over my nose. I put a video in just so you can get a feel for it. Once I heard there would be drawing on my face I almost left. I am usually not a fan of these kind of games, but it was fun and I glad I played.

Dinner

So tonight was my night to cook! I really enjoy cooking and putting on dinner for so many people really gives me a sense of accomplishment. I try to make it as nice as possible and as my mother taught me, the timing is everything. Luckily this come naturally thanks to my great teacher. I made baked ziti from Molly's cookbook, Pickett's Picks. Thanks Molly! It turned out great! Peanut butter cookies were from the food network cookbook I have...could have been better. Does anyone have a really good recipe for peanut butter cookies? I have made some with chocolate kisses in the middle that I thought were really good, but I lost the recipe. Well headed off to FHE!
