Breakfast was good today. I had two cups of hot chocolate and three rolls with butter. I miss butter. The have it here, but they are always so busy putting cheese on their bread, that they never just use butter. I was happy.
At 9h30 we got on a train to Brussels. I liked Brussels a ton better than I liked Brugge. I am kind of sad though, because I know that This was Michael's first area, but I didn't even tell him that I was going, or ask him where I should go. He will love to tell me all that I missed on Sunday I am sure.
We saw a ton of stuff. We went to the Grand Place first. So pretty and it was so different that anything we had seen. We wandered around and saw the Mannaken Pis. He is a tiny little guy. I got my first belgian waffle with strawberries, bananas and Nutella. It was awesome! We wandered around for a while.
A few of us went to the Fine Art Museum. I'm glad I went but museums are usually not the highlight of my trip. We went to the Royal Palace and to the Park of Brussels. It was gorgeous. I loved the Palace. It is way better than Buckingham Palace. The park was awesome too.
We went to a cathedral that had the most beautiful stained glass windows I have seen! I loved them. We headed back towards the center of town and I got my second thing of fries and my second waffle (this time with only chocolate). We headed off to the train station to go home, and what do you know...the train was cancelled. Okay well it really wasn't but they told us it was. We got back to Paris is about and hour and a half. I'm glad to be home! It is so exhausting to travel so much, but Belgium was way worth it! Loved Brussels!
We loved the Grand Place when we visited Brussels on our way to Africa! Mark's favorite place was the Mannaken Pis too and the Belgian waffles are TO DIE FOR! I could almost taste when I saw your picture. Have a great time!
ReplyDeleteSome of these places looked familiar. Too bad Mook didn't get to talk to you ahead of time. The waffles look *really* good. What happen to your tan coat? It seems like you were out of uniform. I've never been to Brussels, but Mom and I went to Brugge. We stopped on the way from Germany back to London in 1986. Sounds like it was a fun trip for you, including a nice nap in a nice hotel. I missed not being there this week for our trip, but looks like it all worked out.
