I was a sicky today. I woke up with a sore throat that has been coming on for a few days. I had aches all over, so I went back to bed. I was so sad to being missing my favorite class (art history) but I got over that quickly :) I figured Ally and I could run through it in about 15 minutes another day. hehe
I woke up and had no idea what time it was. I went down to eat some breakfast. I ran into my host mom who was just putting the dishes away from the breakfast she had set out on the table. I told her how I was sick and whatever and then she got breakfast back out. She was in a hurry to leave the house so she left. I ate breakfast and went back upstairs. I got on the computer and checked my e-mail and then noticed that it was 13h00. No wonder she thought I wouldn't be eating breakfast.
I watched quite a few Mormon Messages and loved them. It is so nice to watch media that is uplifting! I don't think I watch anything that is terrible, but there is noting that good about it either, most the time. The short videos that I watched made me want to be a better person. I want to be a better disciple of Christ and I want people to see that through my words and actions. I have a long way to go, but I am heading the right way. The first step is wanting to change.
I have some very good examples here. My friend Trisha that I have talked about in a few of my other posts, is such an example of a disciple of Christ. She is always trying to lessen the burdens of others. She mostly is very good at being a true friend, when others speak badly. I went to Italy with her and have spend time with her while here in Paris and i have never heard her say one mean thing about anyone. There is not one other person I can say that about. I tend to gossip more than I should, and the amazing thing about Trish is that she stands up for people. Even when it is a group of four girls saying the same negative thing about a person, she will be the one to defend them. Every time I said something negative about something, she would defend them. It is really impressive to me. I want to be more like that.
I have been reading my scriptures more and I have felt a peace in m life that I haven't felt for a long time. I enjoy developing my relationship with my Heavenly Father and with myself. As I learn more about the prophets in the scriptures, I see their examples and I want to be better. I also look for modern day examples. As I listen to the Mormon Messages I see these examples in the leaders of the church. I also see many around me, both Mormon and non-Mormon, who exemplify the life of a disciple of Christ.
Ally came home and then I took another nap. I decided that I would get up and get slightly ready for dinner with the family. When I got ready Ally somehow decided that she should take over my bed while I was gone. So this is what I found when I got back:
There was just enough space for me to squeeze in next to her. I love that girl!
We had dinner with the family, which was great as usually. It is so funny how different things are sometimes here. By the end of dinner they were in some bicker about something to do with money and vacation time. And dinner ended and everyone was fine. It seemed almost like a heated argument but that is just how the French are. Ally and I are now watching the new version of Sense and Sensibility. It is the BBC version. So far I am loving it!!!!
